Native range: western US (SW Oregon to NW California)
- mountain stream-sides in woodlands
- wetlands/streambanks
- co-exists in mixed evergreen forests, yellow pine forests, Douglas-fir forests, and wetland-riparian areas
Key characteristics:
- inflorescence – rounded cyme of numerous white/pink flowers on flower stem (up to 2 meters long)
- peltate (as the specific epithet suggests), rounded, deeply lobed, toothed leaves
